In recent days I'm watching several entries Mailscanner the message log.
/var/log/messages:
May 17 17:13:56 host2 MailScanner: Process did not exit cleanly, returned 255 with signal 0

One thing you might try is deleting the compiled spamassassin rules, as that has caused seg faults on some servers I've looked at. It's in /var/lib/spamassassin/compiled/[version]. Just remove the compiled directory and restart mailscanner.

I did exactly this, but the problem continues.

Try setting "Maximum Archive Depth" to 0 in the MailScanner configuration. If that does not stop the errors, please log a ticket.
