Dear All,
I am running MailScanner and sendmail for couple of years with no issues
suddenly today morning i found that no mails can be sent or received
i also have mailwatch running so on loggin into mailwatch i found all mails in red status as virus
details told me denial of service attack in message.
also i found the in.mqueue has about 500 messages
clearing the in.mqueue folder ,restarting mailscanner and even restarting the machine did not help..
also the server was very slow
i found clamd taking almost 80 to 90 % of the cpu load .
now i stopped mailscanner and only started sendmail and emails can be sent and received normally .
but i need to fix this issue since mailscanner is down
my setting in mailscanner.conf file for virus scanners = auto is right from start and absolutely no changes have been made
googled around but no much help.
appreciate your kind help and advice

the problem is fixed
actually the clamav , clamd was a old version 0.97
upgraded to the latest version and restarted mailscanner and everything was fine
but had to clear the in.mqueue
