Cannot let Mailwatch learn spam

Post by polimedia »

All the times I try to select Spam ham or ignore for a message to let the system learn, I get the same message: Message MESSAGE-ID not found in quarantine.
I search extensively, but I did not find any solution.
It looks like it can be a missing privilege issue, but I don't know how to fix it.
Can anybody help?
Thanks, Carlo

Hi Carlo,

I might be able to put you on the right path to resolving this because I've been through the same thing too. But please note - I'm not an "expert" and I don't work for ConfigServer. I'm just another forum user like you.

But here is how I resolved the same issue that you're having when I encountered it on my server:

The main step I think you need to take first is to allow Mailscanner to store copies of emails in Quarantine. The proper steps to do it are listed at this link - http://www.configserver.com/techfaq/index.php?faqid=6

What that will do is allow copies of messages to be stored in quarantine and the Mailscanner database so that you can perform Operations on them such as marking them as S or H to help Mailscanner learn.

But note - enabling that will use more a bit more server resources and increase your Mailscanner database size, so you might want to be sure to set it to only store messages for a short number of days (simply based on my experience). I set mine to about 7 days to try help avoid making the Mailscanner DB too large and to help avoid filling up important partitions like /var and /usr .

Again this is only based on my experience and you might wish to wait for someone else to confirm the information I'm giving you. I wouldn't want you to run into any trouble over something that I was mistaken about.

I believe that should at least point you in the right direction and is the starting point for resolving your issue.
