Allowing .cab and .sai files in mailscanner

I've read through the config file and searched through this forum for anything related to allowing .cab and .sai files to be sent in mailscanner but can't seem to find anything in the subject lines that relates to my issue. I have to send my simply accounting files to my accountant and mailscanner won't let them through. Is it possible to allow these files to pass on a one time basis when I need them to do so?

I'd look at the filename.rules.conf file and add the .sai extension to be allowed.

That file also has this directive (at least on our boxes):
deny \.cab$ Possible malicious Microsoft cabinet file
Obviously change it to allow.

Couldn't speak to allowing on a one time basis.

Thanks sawbuck for replying, I cannot seem to find the rule set you specify. I have looked through the mailscanner config file and the other links in the mailscanner frontend.

I see this in view rules-From: 127.0.0.1 and From: postmaster@mydomain.com /usr/mailscanner/etc/filename.no.rules.conf
FromOrTo: default /usr/mailscanner/etc/filename.rules.conf
But I don't see the directive you specify or how to add "allow".

This line "FromOrTo: default /usr/mailscanner/etc/filename.rules.conf" that you're seeing in MSFE shows the location. It doesn't appear to be accessible from the MSFE interface so you could either edit it at a root prompt or use CSE (if you have it installed).

CSE is a very helpful tool in its own right: http://www.configserver.com/cp/cse.html

Sawbuck, thanks for your help. I used cse to allow .sai and .cab for this time and changed it back to the original state until I need to send the files again.

Glad it worked for you and for posting back here in case someone else has a similar requirement.
