Released mails getting re-quarantined

When I release a quarantined email (because of a file attachment) the released email immediately gets re-quarantined and never gets released.

The filetype.rules.rule file already contains:

Code: Select all

From:	127.0.0.1 and From: postmaster@servername.com	/usr/mailscanner/etc/filetype.no.rules.conf
How do I prevent released emails from being re-quarantined?

Regards

Neil

Does the filename.rules.rules file also contain the same line? Do the files they refer to exist? (i.e. /usr/mailscanner/etc/filetype.no.rules.conf). What exactly is the message you are getting in MailWatch, or the report received by the sender of the attachment?

Yes, the filename.rules.rules file contains:

Code: Select all

From:	127.0.0.1 and From: postmaster@<hostname>	/usr/mailscanner/etc/filename.no.rules.conf
The email in Mailwatch reports:

Code: Select all

Virus: N
Blocked File: Y
Other Infection: N
Report:	MailScanner: No programs allowed (filename)

Not sure what could be causing this. We have seen at least one case recently where it was a specific email or a specific attachment that had this problem, but other emails with attachment could successfully be released from quarantine. We never were able to determine why the original email could not be released.
