MailScanner itsdelf cannot distinguish between authenticated and non-authenticated senders. If the emails are actually being identified as spam and blocked by MailScanner due to the Spam List setting, you can modify that and use a different RBL that doesn't cause this problem.

Hi Sarah.

I know I'm hashing up on old thread.
I really do love the mailscanner product, and have 7 servers running it.
Since the exim expoit preventing the option to only scan inbound mail though, I am also seeing fortunes of false positives.
This is due to my authenticated smtp users being on dynamic ip ranges, which are blocked by any rbl, as well as plenty of the spamassassin rules.

I have installed ASSP on 3 new servers since then.
Personally, its crummy, and has not got definitive rules, which is very painful, and causes a lot of guesswork.....but I am getting less false positives.

Is there no way that mailscanner can read /etc/relayhosts every minute, and place these ip's in a whitelist of sorts?
If that can be done, or the option for only in scanning reimplemented, I would switch back to mailscanner in a flash.

You could check this thread in the MailScanner newsgroup which seems to suggest some ways to mitigate this issue.
