SMTP Failures (smtpauth) -dovecot_plain authenticator failed

I implemented this last year, but had to remove it as it was preventing incoming e-mails from being delivered.

The number of SMTP failure attempts have now started again and I'm looking to implement this or something else again.

Do you know why it would have preventing incoming e-mails from coming through ?

Just wondering if anyone had any ideas on this - following my last post in March ?

There are quite times, but again the last few days I've had over 15,000 of these.
