Recently installed (2/3 days ago) CSF on Ununtu 16.04.
I can log into the UI. However it will randomly stop responding. The web page comes up as not responding and I have to restart lfd I order to be able to log in again. As far as I can tell the services are running it's just the UI not working.
Before I log in successfully the process lfd UI is running. Once the webpage stops working the lfd UI process is no longer listed.
An example of a change I tried was to add a test port 12345. I clicked Change and restarted csf/lfd. I then logged back in and removed the port. This time when I pressed Change the web page stopped responding.
Sometimes I can make a couple of changes before the page stops responding. Other times I can't make a single change.
I'm new to both CSF/LFD and Linux but am good at copying and pasting
Unfortunately the lfd.log file is pretty sparse. It seems to start fine. I then make a change and when I click Change I get the page cannot be displayed.

I made the change at approx 05:53:01 in the above log. You'll see there's not record at that time, this is the end of the log file. (That message about the blocklist comes up after each restart)
We're working on making the UI daemon process more verbose when it fails and also to auto restart in the next csf release.
Also note that if you restart lfd through the UI, then you will inevitably have problems reconnecting while the daemon restarts which could appear random.
That said, I do not know a reason why it should fail simply by clicking Change in settings, as opposed to restarting the UI.

That's good to hear on both counts. Hopefully it will give some more information about what's happening.
You may well be on the right track with it being browser related, I've been using Google Chrome 59.0 (just updated to 60.0) 64 bit on a Windows 10 client.
I changed to Firefox 54.0 and made a bunch of changes but it didn't crash.
I temporarily enabled debug mode and the log below is when the UI crashed under Chrome.
