Should I uninstall clamAV?

Running the most recent versions of MailScanner (v3.0.5) and MSFE (and cPanel, v11.56.0.24). I read the blog post that mentioned switching to cPanel's installed clamavconnector. But there's a lot that's not clear in that brief blog post.

Does clamavconnector *replace* clamAV?
And if so, shouldn't the script uninstall clamAV?
Or should I?

I'm still getting the nag warning to upgrade clamAV from LogWatch:

Ever since I upgrade clamAV, and then MailScanner, and then the MSFE, from within WHM. I don't know whether I should uninstall clamAV or if it's still a part of the process.

The MSFE install/upgrade script installs clamavconnector and uninstalls the custom version of clamav that was previously installed, you should not have to uninstall the old clamav yourself. If you want us to take a look and make sure everything looks okay, please submit a ticket on the helpdesk with server login info.

Actually, I have just learned that you're getting that notice because cPanel do not use the latest version of clamav in their clamavconnector. It's nothing to be concerned about and there's nothing you can do about it.

Sarah, how do we know if the current version of clamav is current then? I too am seeing the outdated version warning but have no way of knowing which version is currently running. Will this change affect how my emails are scanned when sending or receiving?

cPanel will keep clamavconnector up to date, or at least to the latest version used by cPanel.
