New VPS Centos 7.1 + CSF8.08 - CSF problems and LFD refusing to run

Post by azile »

Hi,

I just spun up a new VPS, running Centos 7.1 and I have installed csf 8.08.

The first installation only gave me a score something like 45/69 (My other VPS has a max score of 140!)

So I uninstalled msg using the uninstall script and re-installed...
It is worth noting that after each install attempt, CSF is listed as not running and I need to run it manually.

I am getting errors in the logs with LFD now when I try to start LFD-

Restarting lfd...

Job for lfd.service failed. See 'systemctl status lfd.service' and 'journalctl -xn' for details.
lfd.service - ConfigServer Firewall & Security - lfd
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/lfd.service; enabled)
Active: failed (Result: signal) since Wed 2015-11-18 00:29:38 GMT; 23ms ago
Process: 9320 ExecStart=/usr/sbin/lfd (code=killed, signal=KILL)
Main PID: 25261 (code=killed, signal=KILL)

Nov 18 00:29:38 myvps.com systemd[1]: lfd.service: control process exited, code=killed status=9
Nov 18 00:29:38 myvps.com systemd[1]: Failed to start ConfigServer Firewall & Security - lfd.
Nov 18 00:29:38 myvps.com systemd[1]: Unit lfd.service entered failed state.

Has anyone any ideas what has gone wrong ? Fresh VPS this evening.

Cheers

I'm running CentOS 7.1 with CSF (WHM server) without issues. Perhaps you have SElinux enabled and it's causing an issue? Due to WHM requirements, that was disabled from the get-go.

I just had the same problem. If you check your lfd log, you will probably have an entry like this:

*Error* lfd will not run with TESTING enabled in /etc/csf/csf.conf, at line 71

Which is quite self explanatory, disable test mode and you will be able to start LFD normally.

Good luck!
