Iphone (apple Devices) and Port Flooding Issue

Post by pewebhost »

I'm running into an issue with IP's getting blocked for Port Flooding. Most specifically, Whenever I have an Iphone try and configure an email account, they will be blocked for port scanning.

Do I have something set wrong?

Any ideas on optimizing these settings to stop this behavior.

Thanks,
Cliff

Have you seen if the error is because of that devices check for por 587? If so, I recommend you to read http://forums.cpanel.net/f43/smtp-port-587-a-74191.html

Thank You, I believe port 587 was this issue. I opened up that port in the firewall and started SMTP on that port and all seems to be well now.

I'm having the same problem with iphones. 587 is open and setup for SMTP and I keep getting stuff like :
Sample of block hits:
Dec 3 17:45:42 server kernel: [11962479.342196] Firewall: *TCP_IN Blocked* IN=venet0 OUT= MAC= SRC=***.68.137.216 DST=***.167.46.*** LEN=52 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=117 ID=5550 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=49554 DPT=587 WINDOW=8192 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0
Dec 3 17:45:45 server kernel: [11962482.342679] Firewall: *TCP_IN Blocked* IN=venet0 OUT= MAC= SRC=***.68.137.216 DST=***.167.46.*** LEN=52 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=117 ID=5557 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=49554 DPT=587 WINDOW=8192 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0
I've edited some parts of ip's out.

Any suggestions as to how to resolve or get CSF / LFD to ignore it ?

oldblock,
check if port 587 is in your TCP/IN definition.

Sorry for the delay in replying, I only just saw the message. YES ! that worked perfectly. Thank you. Perhaps that port should be a default setting these days given the prevalence of the iphone ?
