Seems i did not know it but since the second day i had my VPS and setting it up the chinese have been hitting it hard, i finally started getting some emails and then it got shut down hard. So i am tossing the week down the drain and reinstalling it all again.
I had just heard about this yesterday and was in the process of installing when i went down. So what i need to know please is what are the bare bones that this needs in order to install, i need to get it up asap, before they hit me again..
i am installing centOS 6.2 now and i will upgrade it to 6.5 after that, i do have openVZ so i have a shared kernel if that matters.
my host assures me he has the right ip table. so at what point can i install this, after apache or can i do it before ?
thanks so much
Fastest way to get firewall up
Re: Fastest way to get firewall up
Hi, i did get it installed right away this time, thanks for doing such a great script.. I just noticed the donation buttons inside the control panel on the script. If it matters i did send you 10 bucks but not from inside the script as i had not noticed them until later.
Really great job and thanks.
Also one little question, i am on VPS and i did read about the challenge of using CC_DENY on a VPS. I did 18 CC but most of them are very small, the only big ones are china, hong kong, india and russia.
Question what should i be watching for to see if this is really pulling at my resources? This is my first VPS , and i have munin installed as well as OpenVZ and Vswap. Are there one or two particular items (as in output) from those utilities is should watch and remove the larger CC's if it does pull me down.
Thanks
