Log System?

Post by KitchM »

The readme.txt file states:
To take advantage of kernel logging of iptables dropped connections you should
ensure that kernel logging daemon (klogd) is enabled. Typically, VPS servers
have this disabled and you should check /etc/init.d/syslog and make sure that
any klogd lines are not commented out. If you change the file, remember to
restart syslog.
This is confusing since I could not find such a file. I did, however, find an rsyslog file.

Will this work? Where is the klogd entry supposed to be? I can't find it either.

I'm using an OpenVZ VPS running Operating system CentOS Linux 6.5
Virtualmin 4.08 Pro
Perl version 5.010001
Path to Perl /usr/bin/perl BIND version 9.8.2
Postfix version 2.6.6 Mail injection command /usr/lib/sendmail -t
Apache version 2.2.15 PHP versions 5.3.3
Webalizer version 2.21-02 Logrotate version 3.7.8
MySQL version 5.1.73 ProFTPd version 1.33
SpamAssassin version 3.3.1 ClamAV version 0.97.6

Thanks.

You can ignore that warning when rsyslog is used.

Thanks.

I hope someone rewrites the instructions to include that comment.

Thanks again.
