cxs Adding Invalid cPanel Accounts

Post by sozotech »

This morning in my logs I noticed the following messages being repeated over and over with random usernames. Any idea what causes this and is it something I should be concerned about?

Oct 22 00:03:01 server6 cxswatch[488]: Adding new cPanel user PR7E2ppU...
Oct 22 00:03:01 server6 cxswatch[488]: Failed to add user PR7E2ppU: Invalid Home directory []

Cxs checks /var/cpanel/users/ for new user accounts created in that directory. You need to investigate what is creating new files in that directory to find out why this is happening.

None of those cpanel usernames are showing up in the /var/cpanel/users directory. Is it possible these were temp files of some sort by a process writing in this directory? This is the first time I've seen this and the server has been up for a couple months.

Thanks,
Eric
