Our O/S Commerce software sends an confirmation email to customers.
In the bottom of this email is a load of gibberish, which contains:
'MailScannerScript29528'
I ve been strungling with mailscanner years now about this issue.
When I add a spammer to :Learn as Spam & Report:
I get
Sep 11 17:57:38.797 warn: netset: cannot include servers_real_ip/32 as it has already been included 100% Completed 67650.06 msgs/sec in 00m00s 1 message(s) examined.
It seems like a bug since the email I try to learn spamassassin that is a spammer isn t...
Hello Sarah,
would you be kind to check the Search by Email ID in MailControl, please?
If I check on the /var/log/exim_mainlog for an Email ID, per example 1oTOGt-005qlz-KK, I can see all the related info, per example:
2022-08-31 08:00:46 1oTOGt-005qlz-KK <= user@domain.com
But if I search the same ID in MailControl it shows:
Message ID not found
Hello,
Sarah.
Would you please take in consideration to add in MailControl Statistics the Top 10 Email Subjects?
That will really help to create SpamAssassin rules to block the ones that are not being blocked by MailScanner.
There are times that the emails received are not blocked by MailScanner and that are a security risk because of the attachment it contains.
It will be really nice to have a button Delete (Direct) that could delete those emails directly on the inbox of an account, similar to the Release (Direct) .
Would you, please, consider to add this in MailControl in a near future?
in the config pages is an option to deny filenames.
Deny any attachment filenames matching any of the patterns listed here.
If this setting is empty, it is ignored and no matches are made.
This can also be the filename of a ruleset.
This rule seems to be blocking the whole file name and not just the attachment.
example starke.pdf is being blocked becuase I have TAR as a file name rule.
I've added a few file extensions to /usr/mailscanner/etc/filename.rules.conf
deny \.xls$
deny \.zip$
I've forced a rules update, i've stopped and restarted mailscanner, but these files are still allowed to pass.
I've copied rules from lines above and just modified the .xxx extension, but again, can't get this rule to work.
I noticed there is an available update from MSFE but when I try to upgrade it from within WHM > ConfigServer MailScanner Front-End > Upgrade MSFE > it returns the following error:
ERROR: Unsupported OS:
Did you recently drop support for CloudLinux 6.10 ?
Is there any way to get this working with CloudLinux 6.10 ?
If not, how do I uninstall MSFE and MailScanner from the server completely so...
May 24 20:06:23 host MailScanner: Error in line 3176 of /usr/mailscanner/etc/MailScanner.conf, line does not make sense. Can't continue processing configuration file until these errors have been corrected.
May 24 20:06:23 host MailScanner: Failed to read configuration file /usr/mailscanner/etc/MailScanner.conf
Mailscanner and calmav are doing a decent job of blocking a recent wave of virus.
But is it possible to have the IP blacklisted in CSF once a vrus has been detected.
This might slow down sebsequent receipts for a short while.
I did see that i may have been possible many years ago, but don't see this feature today.
When doing Learn as Spam & Report to learn and report multiple messages, I occasionally get this error on a few of the messages:
SpamCop report to vmx.spamcop.net failed: Net::SMTP error
How can I best debug this and investigate it further? Perhaps there is a more verbose logging option for the spamcop reporting portion that I can use?
I am migrating from my old WHM server to a newly built one. I have MailScanner and MSFE installed, and am now looking for a way to migrate the configuration files for MSFE to my new server. I've already moved the license, so I'm unable to access the MSFE user interface in WHM on my old server. Is it possible to get these settings moved over from the old server via configuration files?
i got changed this file /usr/mailscanner/etc/rules/virus.scanning.rules. sometime, it will revert to previous value. any idea to fix this issue?
i need to prevent incoming/outgoing virus scanning for some sender address. Can directly do in virus.scanning.rules?
Hi.
On the Front-End Settings under Server Spam Whitelist, that I use a lot, I see that if I add a domain to the Server Spam Whitelist like this:
*@*.domaing.tld
it only allows the following:
anyword@word1.fixeddomain.tld
it doesn't allow any of the following:
anyword@fixeddomain.tld
anyword@word1.word2.fixeddomain.tld
anyword@word1.word2.word3.fixeddomain.tld
Hello
maybe a source of confusion.
In Mailcontrol / Search form the Search from Address does not search in the From: header as maybe spontaneous interpreted,
but does search in the Received: header
This is logic with
where is explained that
(..) the address added by the mail server when the email is received during the SMTP protocol exchange. It never uses the From: header field in an email...
