Hi,

I'm upgrading my Cpanel server in-place from Centos 6 -> 7, and need to know if MailScanner will just work w/o needing reinstalllation. Anyone have insight into this? Thanks!

Hi guys,

We have about 30 servers, all of them run MailScanner and MSFE.

The majority of them correctly scan mail and the SPAM Report will show grey list etc..

Some servers had URIBL_BLOCKED which we easily fixed with setting dns_server 127.0.0.1

Our issue is that a number of other servers do not reference URIBL_ in the SPAM Report headers at all.

Where can we check that URIBL_ is enabled...

I have installed MailScanner FE and recently I started to notice outbound spam from one of the accounts

going to logs I found this

Randomly yesterday everything went from working fine to not working at all. We have a WHM/cPanel dedicated server, and MailScanner was installed manually years ago, not as a WHM module but just directly in CentOS.

I believe it's version 4.84.5.

We restarted the server just to be sure of a fresh start. Then tried to run service MailScanner restart and receive errors like this:

We needed to reboot the server last night. After we did, it seems Mailscanner did not start properly.
We noticed the mail queue had over 800 emails pending. Tried to restart Mailscanner - that did not work (I was in a panic, so I did not properly make note of the error.) Then I just disabled Mailscanner to get email moving again.

Exim services were restored and email is delivering now, but...

I see v5.2.1-1 available on GitHub, but it doesn't show as an available update on my WHM.
WHM is showing v5.0.2

Has 5.2.1-1 been put on general release ?

I've set up Mailscanner to send out notification to the server admin and the sender when an email is blocked, say for having multiple extensions in the filename.

The notification email to the server admin goes out correctly, using the Notices From and Local Postmaster parameters from MailScanner Config.

The notification email to the sender however doesn't seem to use the Notices From...

I've added some tld's to the Blacklist via MSFE > Front-End Settings > Server Spam Blacklist in the format of

*@*.tld

eg: *@*.icu

Clicked Change and then went on to reload and restart MailScanner for good luck.

All emails from .icu are now being marked as Blacklisted in MSFE and the Spam Report shows spam (blacklisted) but these emails are still being delivered to an account where they...

How can I reduce the 'Delivered to internal network by host with dynamic-looking rDNS' score to ZERO ....

Hello, last night WHM updated itself to v82 and I started getting emails that mailscanner is not working, a quick google search brought me to this:

I updated the scripts on the server via this: curl -sL | perl

but i am not still getting emails from WHM saying that mailscanner has failed, what can I do?

I notice that emails sent to non existing accounts are being accepted by Mailscanner and can be seen on MailControl.

The last line in the mail forward file is: *: :fail: No Such User Here

It appears to me that it is not behaving like described here:

Is there a way to set Mailscanner or Exim to completely block mails to non existing users?
What have I done wrong?

Anyone else seeing MailScanner / Exim going into an endless loop upon upgrading cPanel to v78.0.18 ?

Just realised that since the upgrade last night of WHM to v70.0.32 no emails seem to be being processed.

Spamassassin can put the spam into a folder, but in MailScanner I can only find a configuration for the spam to be sent to a mail address. Our clients complain that they do not want to go to a specific mail account to check for spam and most of them dont now how to configure rules so that emails with Spam?, etc, go to a specific folder.

Do you know of any way this can be done like in...

I have checked the documentation in the User Guide PDF as well as the Command Index, but there is no clarification as to if multiple email addresses can be used in the actions rule.

Does anyone have any information as to if this is supported, and how so?

I've noticed that as of today, my X-%org-name%- headers from MailScanner are no longer being added to emails that come in. My MailScanner configuration shows that I have enabled the X-%org-name%- headers but I can't figure out why they're not being written and stored.

Setup:
CentOS 7 x86_64 latest
cPanel WHM: 76.0.11
MSFE: v8.21
MS (ConfigServer edition) v5.0.2

Under MSFE-Front End >> Bulk Actions.
Would it be possible to add a bulk action to add the offending IP addresses to CSF Firewall blocklist.

At the moment, you have to enter inside each message and choose block from within, which is time consuming.
It would be nice to highlight them in bulk and block from there.

My server is running Mailscanner v5.0.2 since 2016 and does not update to latest versions.
I checked mailscanner.info website and it is being continuously updated and current version is 5.1.1-1 released in 25 August 2018.

Would you please inform how can I fix Mailscanner Front End in order for the update button appear and let me update Mailscanner to latest version?

Every day when the script looks for new domains or sub domains to add to the different rules like:

spam.scanning.rules
spam.action.rules
spamhigh.action.rules
virus.delivery.rules

There is a particular subdomain that keeps getting added every day and is causing hundreds of duplicate entries in the above files. The interesting part is it feels like there is some pattern not matching correctly....

When a message is quarantined, the sender and recipients aren't notified.

How can we change things so the recipient gets a note with the original email (minus the attachment) saying if you really really trust the sender you can download your message from ?

When spam is suspected, we want the sender to get a reject notice.

Or some similar behavior.
