I upgraded mailscanner ClamAV and cpanel frontend
yesterday and now when I check status in the frontend it says mailscanner is not running
yet in whm services it says it is.
I dont think it is acually working for the user accounts.

Has anyone else experienced this problem
Does anyone know the solution.

your company did the Mailscanner configuration on all our servers. This is great, he gets most of the SPAM.

We use QuadCore servers, with 8GB RAM, and have a maximum of 300 accounts by server.

All servers have a similar workload.

One of the servers, in the last 3 weeks, is getting a load a little bit higher (around 8) and memory usage between 1 and 2 GB.

Always, we have on top this...

Is there any aspect of MailScanner or CSF that can be used as a system-wide, keyword based anti-spam filter?

Let's say that I wanted to send to /dev/null all incoming email with the word viagra in the subject line. How would I do this?

We get this when attempting to update ClamAV via the MailScannerFE. I've tried everything I can find, without any luck so far:

I got the notice today that there was a clamav upgrade. So I logged into 3 of my servers to perform the upgrade. 2 are fine. One the clamd service keeps failing.

I have forced clamav update.
I have forced Mailscanner Update.
I have forced MSFE update
I have forced cPanel Update.

Nothing fixed this.

At the end of the clamav upgrade it says:

ClamAV update process started at Fri Apr 2 09:57:27...

We have a lot of spam like this and we can't understand why these messages have lower scores like 0.329.

I used to have a very large bayes database, but today I noticed that it has been wiped off.

Questions:
1) Which are the directories that must be backed-up to recover the Bayes database in such circumstances?

2) What could possibly have wiped it? Is there settings in Mailscanner or MSFE that could have done it? Scripts that run or could be reset by a MSFE update?

3) Are there any logs where I...

We moved our mail server to a different datacenter which caused the IP to change. The server was physically moved in case there is any question on that. Same server, different IP address.

Now we get a MSFE is not licensed for this server error.

Does anyone know how to update the license. This was a purchased mailscanner/csf installation.

Everytime I get a zip file with PDF's it them mailscanner flags them as executable s and blocks the zip is this normal behavior? What rules am I missing?

I'm not sure if I should be posting here or in the front-end forum. If I'm in the wrong place please let me know!

I have used the MailScanner install script - it works great, but I haven't implemented the cpanel front end. This is OK but I'm running into the following problem.

When I manually add an external domain name to spam.whitelist.rules it gets removed by mscpanel.pl:

example.co.uk...

how mark as legitimate mail to all that has been authenticated by smtp ?

My clamav server is down and I am receiving thousands of clamd failed mails.
I have already forced the update of Mailscanner, clamav and MSFE, but
The only report I saw during clamav update was:

Anyone has the same issue? What more should I check to trace the origin of the problem?

Hi,

I notice that the email starting with &ecaute; (é - small e with acute accent) are quarantined. To reproduce it, the email must be send from a webmail (like gmail), with Outlook not happens.

I tried some instructions found on Internet:

with no success, or the message is quarantined or seems like all executable...

We've setup some new accounts on the server and emails between the various accounts on the same server are being tagged as spam: Subject: {Spam?} Re: XXXXX

I checked the new domain in the mailscanner reports and it's indeed there:

domain.com added to spam.scanning.rules
domain.com added to virus.scanning.rules
domain.com added to spam.action.rules
domain.com added to spamhigh.action.rules...

I'm trying to help out a buddy on a server with the ConfigServer mail scanner installed. He is having some issues with spam and has not tracked it down yet. All of the spam has the same subject and some comment email headers. Is there any way with MailScanner/SpamAssassin/EXIM to filter outbound email by subject or headers?

Mailscanner is blocking some legitimate emails with the following error:

MailScanner: No programs allowed (Templates)

If I release the email, the released email gets re-blocked with the same error and ends up back in quarantine!

How do I get these emails through to the recipient?

The persons domain is configured with Deliver Cleaned Emails=Yes

Also, I've changed the recipients domain to...

I looked at the whole MailScanner.conf and searched Google, but can't find the answer.

Is there a way to notify only the outboud user that there email have been blocked as spam ?

I mean,

external Spam blocked by MailScanner -> local domain user = No Notify
local domain user Spam blocked by MailScanner -> external = Notify

The only way I see right now is having two server (one in, one out)...
