Just had to do the same, upped it to 40K and now seems resolved.

Messages with certain attachments are being rejected with this message: MailScanner: Very long filenames are good signs of attacks against Microsoft e-mail packages (name of file is exactly 14 characters with a .doc extension) That's absurd! This solution didn't work for me in all docx cases:

# Allow .rel files
allow \.rel$ - -

But this worked:

# Allow friggin MS Office hidden files
allow \.x(ml)?\d{0,}\.rel$

Don't forget to tab fields and then restart MailScanner.
