It's a well documented clash between Ruid2 and mod_security. Something to do with file locking of log files. The error is: Audit log: Failed to lock global mutex: Permission denied They say it could lead to race conditions. But, another issue, is that you get the above error and can't see which rule...

Does cmc have to be removed if mod_sec is removed
Howdy,
I just had to remove mod_security from my Apache build because of an incompatibility with Ruid2.
Is it best to remove cmc also, or am I OK leaving it installed?
I hope to use mod_sec one day when the issue is resolved.

Will cmc work when the rulesets are specified in the config file via Include directives as opposed to the actual rules being posted in the config file. For some reason mailscanner did not show up as one of the database under the WHM mysql Repair a database option. If you need to repair it from the command line, this worked for me: 1) Shell into the server as root 2) See what mysql says about the database (just a look-see, no data changed): /usr/bin...

BTW early this morning exim started failing all together on one system, apparently because of this issue:
