and when you do /etc/init.d/csf restart
does it show you something? does it stop right away ?

Like APF , if you try this command does it show you something? rpm -qa | grep -i apf

is it stopping at a precise time or you start it and stop right away?, is it install in a cpanel whm environment?, what is your version of your linux?? do you check if you had something in your cronjob?, is it a dedicated server? is it a share server like vps? when you start it do you see some error...
